Mushrooms are good for you. Did you know that they are low in calories (only 20 calories for five medium-sized white mushrooms) are fat free, cholesterol free AND are sodium free? There are not that many things that good for you! While many are really great, the shiitake mushrooms are some of the better tasting mushrooms.
Place your hands on the following ingredients:
1 lb fresh shiitake or portobello mushrooms
1/4 cup olive oil
3 cloves of garlic - minced
1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp salt
Combine thoroughly all ingredients and a glass bowl. Clean the mushrooms by cutting off the stems and rinsing and pat drying with paper towels. Then, with a pastry brush, brush each one with the ingredients from the bowl. Allow them to sit a few minutes before grilling over direct medium heat until tender (5 to 10 minutes depending upon the level of the heat) Serve warm.
