Directly from Smoky's stash of prefered recipes comes this absolutely wonderful recipe for barbecued beans. It combines the best ingredients along with your favorite barbecued pork to make an outstanding presentation.

From..........."The Great American Barbecue Instruction Book":
2 lbs navy beans
1 cup onion, chopped
1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup catsup
1/4 cup bell pepper, chopped
1 Tbls. prepared mustard
1 Tbls. apple cider vinegar
1 Tlbs. salt
1 tsp. black pepper
1/2 lb. barbecued pork shoulder, shredded
Cook beans until tender. Put all ingredients except beans into casserole dish. Pour in beans and their liquid to cover. Bake in slow (250-275) oven 3-5 hours, adding liquid as needed.

EDITOR'S COMMENT: Once your beans have been cooked....and you want some additional smoke flavor, when baking, place them UNcovered in your smoker and stir occasionally. Pork shoulder would be optional, however some smoke-cooked meat would enhance the flavor.
