Some believe that cole slaw dates back to the Dutch in the Netherlands. But no matter, there are as many different varieties as their are thoughts going through people's heads. Mix it up with chopped or shredded cabbage, nuts, bacon, carrots, celery, onions or peanuts. Let your taste buds be your guide.
Smoky's Basic Cole Slaw recipe looks like this:
3 Cup finely shredded cabbage
1/4 Cup good mayonnaise - not salad dressing -
try Hellman's Mayonnaise
2 Tbs vinegar
2 tsp sugar
Salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
Mix thoroughly and let sit in the refrigerator for at least one hour before using. Refrigerate any left overs. Enjoy!
