FAQ Subject: Trashcan Turkey
Smoky,
I read you answer about cooking on a galvanized b-b-Q grate. How about these recipies for Trashcan Turkey: where you cook a turkey under an inverted metal trashcan using charcoal ot top and around the sides? Aren' all metal trashcans Zinc with galvanized coating? How would you know for sure? Can you wash off the galvanized coating with vinager?
Thanks
Roger
Hi Roger,
A steel trash can that was not galvanized would rust out in a short time. Almost all are galvanized. You cannot wash off the zinc coating with vinegar or any other household product. Any acid that was strong enough to take it off would produce explosive hydrogen gas and deadly zinc gas.
Have fun,
Smoky
