FAQ Subject: Is there a smart way to clean ceramic barbecue briquettes?
Your site is very impressive; I found it by searching askjeeves.com.
Is there a recommended/smart way to clean ceramic barbecue briquettes? I have tried burning off gristle, but I think it should be possible to get the briquettes more clean. Your suggestions are appreciated.

Greg
Hi Greg,
Thanks for the kind words.
WOW! A real neatnik! Are you going to buff them on both sides when you get them clean?
They should burn off pretty clean, but if they don't pile them in a plastic bag/container and pour a cup of household ammonia, close it up and let it stay overnight. The fumes will soften all the gunk and it will wash right off.
Relax a bit and have fun
