FAQ Subject: Help me find a good indoor grill
I am designing a new kitchen. I want to do more grilling for health reasons as well as taste. What can you tell me about INDOOR grills? I am having trouble finding useful information. I have located commercial gas grills, but they seem to require special considerations (insulation and exhaust systems). Jen Air makes a range with a grill, but I have no idea how good it is, and it is expensive ($2000).
Thanks,
Gayl Knox,

Hi Gayl,
An indoor grill is just an outdoor grill with a good powered exhaust system. Of course, you will need good insulation. But a gas grill is no more dangerous than a gas range and as a practical matter most gas stoves/ranges have a "broiler" section in the bottom.
The Jenn-Air is fully functional, although pricey, but it has the high temperature required for broiling and the requisite powered exhaust system.
Personally, I have a "cooking porch" outside my kitchen which has two charcoal grills and a two burner gas fired fryer/boiler.
Luck,
Smoky
