Topic: Bulk Spices . . . . From: Chris,
Subject: Re: Bulk Spices

Hi Smoky,

My partner and I have been doing some serious BBQing for a couple of years now. We've spent a small fortune on spices and condiments. Can you recommend a good, inexpensive source for bulk spices for rubs and sauces? By the way is there a name brand rub or sauce that you particularly like?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Don't forget it was spices, not gold, that sent Columbus out to sea. Their prices are still dear. Sam's Club carries a majority of spices in 1 lb containers at reasonable prices. The grocery store prices would put a severe dent in Bill Gates stash.

I guess I'm going to have to start offering my mixtures by mail. Grocery chains are extremely difficult to get into and by the time they add their markup the prices are high.

I have a few pretty good mixtures, but I'm not going mail order until I get a larger inventory built up. However, because of the inherent cost of spices, my mixes aren't cheap - $10.00 per pound, based on my last prices. We are pricing out another run. I don't yet know what the price will be.

Let's talk next month.
