Topic: How to cook barbecue and still be low in fat . . . . From: Jim,
Subject: Re: Low Fat Barbecue
Dear Smoky,
What is the best meat to use and what is the best way to cook for a low fat diet. I will cook BBQ turkey sometimes.
Thanks,
Jim McMurrey
Hi Jim,
There are several meats that are low in fat and the fat in several can be reduced even further by proper trimming and by the method of cooking.
A choice ribeye steak, carefully trimmed of all the external fat and any substantial occluded fat, properly broiled over a hot charcoal fire, has very little fat. Pork loins, trimmed of external fat can be roasted or barbecued to provide outstanding eating with very little fat. Chicken breasts, broiled or baked are, likewise, low fat and delicious. Chicken legs are higher in fat. Turkey breasts, broiled, roasted or barbecued are excellent.
Any firm fleshed fish can grilled to perfection with very little fat.
May you have a long and fat free life,
Smoky |
