Topic: A Bit of Birch . . . . From: Kelley,
Subject: Re: Birch for Smoking?
Smoky, we have quite a bit of birch here in the northeast and I was wondering if it was any good for smoking?
Thank you
Kelley
Hi Kelley,
Birch and Alder are members of the Betulaceae family and, therefore, are very similar in characteristics of the wood. There are at least 13 different species, some better than others for fuel. Yours is most likely Paper Birch, which is one of the good ones.
Give it a shot and tell me how it turns out.
Luck,
Smoky |
